Fire Season has begun – Higher than average fire season is predicted for 2012/13
With temperatures already exceeding expectations and fires starting in the Victorian, and NSW country areas, now is the time to arm yourself with the best possible fire protection.
Fire season is a dangerous time of year for farms and rural properties with the average Australian summer being hot, dry and bush fire prone. Having a fire plan in place and the right equipment to protect your property should be high on the priority list at this time of year as precaution for the summer ahead.
Research has shown there is a higher than average fire season predicted for Southern Australia, from the East Coast to the West Coast. According to the Bush Fire Cooperative Research Centre the above average forecast is due to the abundant grass growth from high amounts of rainfall over the past year and a half. The rainfall has continued to provide wide spread vegetation growth in the grasslands which becomes a huge fire threat during the hotter months.
Fire experts are urging that now is the time to prepare your property for the season ahead and have a solid bush fire plan in place.
